Woman caught driving while impaired on fourth offense

Madison police arrested a 47-year-old woman on her fourth impaired driving offense, early Sunday evening, according to an incident report.

Madison Police Department Spokesperson Joel DeSpain said neighbors called the police after seeing Lori Butson park her damaged vehicle in her driveway and stumble into her residence.

DeSpain said the description of Butson’s car matched one given by a 28-year-old Madison man after he viewed the car swerving across lanes of traffic on the 100 block of East Washington Avenue. The citizen called police after Butson left the roadway and hit both a snowbank and a “No Parking” sign, and continued driving.

Police connected the two calls, and arrested Butson at her residence in Madison, according to DeSpain.
