City celebrates snow during the Madison Winter Festival

Madison Winter Festival will take place this weekend Feb. 15-16 at the city’s Capitol Square to promote interactive recreational activities and winter sports.

The festival will offer a plethora of events ranging from cross country skiing, ice sculpting, sledding and curling to name a few. There will be multiple walk-runs occurring throughout the weekend for people of all ages including the”Frosty Kids Fun Run” and the “Movin' Shoes Frosty 1 Mile Dog Jog and Walk.”

Additionally, the festival will offer attendees various athletic competitions including the Wisconsin High School Nordic Ski State Championships starting off Saturday and the “Cylco Frost Cyclocross and Fat Bike” race.

There are approximately 20,000 anticipated spectators and participants to enjoy over 90 truckloads of snow on the Capitol Square.

The Festival will end at 4 p.m. Feb. 16.
