Man reports costumed group attacked him following Freakfest, police say

A 25-year-old Belleville, Wis. man told police a group of four to five costumed partygoers attacked him Oct. 27 in the early morning following Freakfest after he insulted their costumes, Madison Police Department Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain wrote in an incident report.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:05 a.m. on the 600 block of State Street, according to the report.

The victim said in the report he made a sarcastic remark about the group’s costumes, and members of the group proceeded to knock him to the ground and kick him in the head.

The victim suffered an orbital bone fracture, according to the report.

The report did not identify any suspects, and the victim said in the report he was drunk at the time of the incident and cannot remember the costumes his attackers wore.
