Police search for suspect in mugging, robbery

A 21-year-old male struggled with a gunman who approached him in the South Carroll Street area early Saturday morning and proceeded to take his cellphone, according to Madison Police Department incident report.

The suspect is a 23- to 24-year-old male who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and has a mustache, according to the report. He was also wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

A group of men, including the suspect who had a handgun, approached the victim, according to the report. The suspect knocked the victim unconscious.

According to the report, the victim realized his cellphone had been stolen when he regained consciousness.

The report said the victim lost his glasses in the struggle, so he could not remember exactly where the incident occurred when he reported it to MPD.

The victim said he could have been on W. Wilson Street or Williamson Street, according to the report.
