As the seasons change, so does makeup. There are two sides to fall: bright colors or lovely neutrals.
First off, there are two key words that everyone should pay attention to: bold eyeliner. However, this season, it is not enough to only stick with the basic colors like black, brown or gray. On the contrary– the more colorful, the better! Neon shades are very trendy right now (think electric blue, bright green, or even red or pink). Fall is about color. If the leaves can change their colors, people can and should as well! To create a vibrant cat eye, follow the creases of your lid and begin by swiping your eyeliner brush upward, thus creating an angular line. I recommend Urban Decay eyeliner pencils. They glide on so smoothly it is as if they are made of satin. (There is definitely a reason why beauty magazines have rated them the No. 1 eyeliner brand.) Then, always stick with black mascara to follow up the look. I suggest trying the Sephora brand of mascara as it has a do-all brush that will curl, elongate and gift your lovely lashes with ample volume. To really give the look a sparkle, apply neutral shades of eyeshadow, such as bronze, gold and beige. Fall is about staying true to mother Earth, so it is advised against doing a smoky eye on a daily basis.
As far as lipstick goes, shades of red are very trendy. Any shade of red is very chic right now, and deciding which shade of red to wear is simple. If you are someone who looks better in gold than silver and have a warm skin tone, go for more earthy shades of red, such as crimson and red-orange. On the other hand, if you are a person who looks better in silver and has a cool skin tone, opt for jewel tones of red. Think violet or burgundy.
Another fall trend is to not layer on too much foundation. Fall is all about balancing and staying natural with just the right pop of color. Try a CC cream. Brands such as ALMAY and CoverGirl will not disappoint you or your wallet. Just dab a bit of CC cream onto your cheeks to start with and then spread it to the forehead, chin, nose and areas below the eyes. With a quality CC cream, it is not necessary to follow up with a layer of foundation, as this will not give someone the natural fall look she is craving.
I hope these trend ideas were helpful! Fall is also about individuality, so take all of these ideas with a grain of salt. Conformity is not necessary to create a great look and if these ideas do not suit you, I urge you to tailor them so that they will! Be bold, be creative, be chic. Most importantly though, be you!
