Fall is now in full swing, with Halloween lurking just around the corner. There are so many things I enjoy about this time of year. I love how the farmers market is full of apples and beautiful pumpkins and gourds. It’s so relaxing to walk around the capitol in a chunky sweater and scarf while shopping from local growers for fall flowers in gorgeous shades and fresh produce. Coffee shops and cafes around campus all feature scrumptious pumpkin flavored drinks and desserts. As the air chills and the leaves begin to fall, I’ve decided I need to incorporate my favorite season into my apartment. Here are some cheap, easy ideas to add a bit of festive, fall decor into your living space!
Burlap Bows
Nothing says fall like burlap. Pick up a roll of burlap ribbon and large gemstones or festive buttons at your local craft store. Instead of buttons, I recently opted for mini, sparkly foam leaves. Cut your burlap to the desired length and tie it in a bow. In the center of the bow, attach your gem or leaf with hot glue. You can tie these bows around a vase of fresh flowers, pin them to your corkboard or add one anywhere you need a bit of festive flare.
Festive Fall Basket
Find a small wicker or woven basket and fill it with a variety of pinecones and acorns. You can hunt these down near some trees, or purchase packages of faux pinecones, acorns and even gourds at your local craft store. Place this fall inspired basket on a table as a centerpiece or on a side table for a dash of the outdoors inside.
Halloween Candy Dish
With Halloween near, candy is a no brainer. This time of year, it is easy to find candy dishes with festive designs. My favorite spot to find cute, budget friendly bowls is Target. You can opt for one with pumpkins, bats and mummies or a dish in the typical Halloween colors: black, orange, purple or green. Just fill your bowl up with your favorite candy and you’ll have a treat that’s always within reach.
Pumpkin Patch
If you’re lucky enough to have a porch or balcony, why not create your own fall display? Start by purchasing a variety of pumpkins and gourds. You can also add bales of hay to add height. Arrange your fall items however you wish and voila, you have a personal piece of fall heaven. If you’re feeling extra crafty, try making your own scarecrow with a pole, some hay and an old shirt. This area will quickly become your favorite spot to getaway and enjoy your morning cup of coffee.
I hope these ideas help you add a touch of fall to your home!
