A bus hit a male bicyclist in the bike lane on University Avenue Monday after the bicyclist failed to notice the bus coming when he stopped to dismount his bike, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
The 18-year-old bicyclist was knocked unconscious, and he was taken to the hospital for observation, but his injuries are not thought to be serious, according to the report.
The report said the bicyclist stopped his bike in the bike lane, which is adjacent to the bus lane, to go over the curb at the intersection of University and North Mills Street.
The bicyclist had a hood over his head, so he did not see the bus, according to the report.
Police have not yet issued any citations in the case, but they are investigating the incident.
