Man catches sexual prowler outside North Blount Street house

A 25-year-old Madison man detained a sexual predator he caught peering into a woman’s window on the 200 block of North Blount Street early Thursday morning, according to a police report.

The 25-year-old was on his way to visit his girlfriend at her apartment, and upon his arrival found 54-year-old David Whaley standing on his tip-toes, peering into a woman’s bedroom with his hands cupped around his eyes, according to the report. The woman Whaley was watching was the roommate of the 25-year-old’s girlfriend.

When the boyfriend confronted Whaley, the prowler said “I’m sorry, I have a problem,” according to the report. The boyfriend took Whaley down and physically restrained the suspect until the police could arrive.

The women said they did not know Whaley was outside of their home, according to the report. The police charged Whaley with disorderly conduct.
