Camp Randall underage alcohol violations remain steady, medical requests fall at Purdue game

Although the number of underage alcohol tickets the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department issued Saturday matched the number issued at the Tennessee Tech game Sept. 7, the number of people who required medical assistance decreased significantly.

Officers issued 24 underage alcohol tickets at both the Purdue and Tennessee Tech games, according to the UWPD. However, calls to paramedics Saturday fell from 31 to nine.

The UWPD issued 13 underage alcohol citations and made 20 calls to the paramedics at the Aug. 31 kick-off game of the season against University of Massachusetts.

Students were also slightly better behaved at the Purdue game in terms of those arrested. UWPD arrested 18 students Saturday compared to 23 Sept. 7, and 39 students were ejected from Camp Randall Saturday, which is up from 38 at the Tennessee Tech game, according to the UWPD.

The Badgers’ football team will next play in Madison Oct. 12 against fellow Big 10 team Northwestern.
