Madison police investigating possible homicide on Milwaukee Street

Madison police are continuing to investigate the first homicide of the year in the city after discovering a deceased woman inside her apartment on the 6800 block of Milwaukee Street Thursday morning.

Although details regarding the specifics of the case are not being released at this time, Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said in a statement that a 30-year-old woman’s body was found at approximately 10:35 a.m.

DeSpain said in the statement police did find signs of “forced entry” into the woman’s residence.

The Dane County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and will release the name of the victim once the woman’s family has been notified, according to the statement.

Police are encouraging any citizens with information to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014 and are eligible for a $1,000 reward.
