Winterizing your Wardrobe in Wisconsin

Winters in Wisconsin are extreme.  The freezing temperatures coupled with the intense winds are nearly impossible to get used to no matter if you have grown up in Madison or are from sunny California.  Unfortunately, the time for that kind of weather is just around the corner, so here are a few fashion forward tips to help brave the cold:

1. Sorels—If you’ve never had to buy snow boots before, I recommend getting a new pair of Sorels. They are not only waterproof, and keep your feet warm, but also have a bunch of styles and colors to spice up your winter outfit.

 2. Knee High Knit Socks—Perfect to go under your Sorels or Uggs are knee high socks.  Leather boots can leave your cold and wet on the long walk to class.  Knee high socks come above boots help your toes from freezing, while also looking cute and cozy.

3. Knit Beanie—There is nothing worse than walking to class with your ears and head feeling like they are about to freeze off.  A knit beanie is the perfect resolution to this problem.  They are available in great prints, and in neutral solids to go with any jacket.  Plus, they will help stop your hair from going crazy in the wind!

4. Texting Gloves—To stop the annoying task of having to take off your gloves or mittens every time you receive a text, invest in a pair of texting gloves.   They are warm and practical, and come in a variety of colors to reflect your own personal style.

5. Chunky Scarves—Although scarves have been around for a while, they are still a key player in staying warm throughout the cold winter months.  Infinity scarves are easy to wear, and come in warm fabrics like wool and cashmere.

These five items are essential this winter if you want to look great while remaining warm!  You can wear them all at the same time or mix and match with individual pieces to make it through the chilly Wisconsin winter.
