State election officials have an extra 30 days to verify the validity of 1.9 million signatures filed in the recall effort against Gov. Scott Walker, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald and three other State Senators, after a Judge ruled Wednesday.
Before recall elections can be made official, the Government Accountability Board must declare that there were enough valid signatures to force an election.
While the GAB was originally allowed only 31 days to complete the review process, a Dane County Judge permitted 30 more days given the large number of signatures.
The deadline could be extended again, but it is not expected.
