Former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and former UW-Madison Chancellor Donna Shalala will speak about the future of the nursing profession at the 2010 Littlefield Leadership Lecture on Oct. 15.
Shalala, now president at the University of Miami, will present parts of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Initiative on the Future of Nursing at the Institute of Medicine, which was crafted in response to a nationwide nurse shortage, according to the UW-Madison School of Nursing.
The initiative was organized ""to find solutions to the continuing challenges facing the nursing profession, and to build upon nursing-based solutions to improve quality and transform the way Americans receive health care,"" according to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation website.
Tickets to the lecture are no longer available.
