Wisconsin suspended senior defensive backs Aubrey Pleasant and Shane Carter indefinitely Aug. 15. Head coach Bret Bielema did not disclose the reasons for the suspensions.
Both safeties have seen significant playing time in their careers, with Carter notching 20 starts and Pleasant 14. But both players have seen their playing time diminish recently, with senior Chris Maragos and junior Jay Valai receiving the bulk of the playing time at the two safety spots last season.
Carter started all 13 games his sophomore season and led the Big Ten with seven interceptions, but started only seven games last season after struggling against opponents' running game.
Pleasant also started 13 games his sophomore season but only one game last season.
