The 2009 Maxwell Street Days Summer Sidewalk Sale is scheduled for this weekend.
More than 100 shops and restaurants along State Street and Capitol Square will participate in the event, which runs from Friday, July 17, through Sunday, July 19.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Also on tap will be a music stage at Peace Park, hosting musical acts from the Madison Folk Music Society and the Madison Songwriters Group.
Buyers will also be encouraged to visit the Overture Center and Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. Monona Terrace will also be available for rest and relaxation.
Maxwell Street Days has been a tradition in Madison for 33 years, thanks to the famed Maxwell Street in Chicago. The Maxwell Street there was known for an outdoor farmer's market and urban bazaar"" from 1871 to 1994.
In 1975, Martin's, a Madison-based clothing store, began the Maxwell Street Days sidewalk sale patrons know and enjoy today.
