On July 13th the State-Langdon Neighborhood Association met to discuss our position of support for the proposed Edgewater development project. The association consists primary of UW-Madison and MATC students living off campus.
Having talked with numerous residents of the area around Langdon Street, including many students, I am confident changes to the hotel will be beneficial to the community, adding much-needed jobs, lake access, recreational and hotel space and tax roll for the city.
I hope the city works closely, and transparently, to ensure the project moves forward in a way that balances the sensitive needs of the area - oespecially with respect to traffic flow on Langdon Street - oand takes into consideration the reasonable concerns some residents have.
I can say with great certainly that students of UW-Madison and MATC would benefit and support the right type of renovations to the Edgewater.
