Zimmermann homicide case still active

The investigation of the murder of UW-Madison student Brittany Zimmermann is still active, according to the Madison Police Department.

Zimmermann, 21 at the time of her death, was found in her apartment on West Doty Street by her fiancé almost a year ago on April 2, 2008.

According to the MPD, an investigative team is currently working on the case, which has become more focused over the past year.

""We continue to be confident that with the support of the Zimmermann family and the community that the caring professionals of the MPD will solve this tragic crime,"" MPD Chief Noble Wray said in a statement.

Over the past year, over 200 tips and 2,900 pages of reports about Zimmermann's case have been produced. Detectives have also interviewed over 700 possible suspects and contacted at least 830 people of interest.

Although progress has been made on the case, Zimmermann's family is not any closer to coming to terms with her murder.
