The city of Madison declared a Snow Emergency early Tuesday morning, which will remain in effect until at least 7 a.m. Thursday.
During snow emergencies, Madison residents are asked to remove all vehicles from city streets. If residents must park on the street Tuesday night, they should park on the side of even house numbers. Vehicles should park on the odd numbered side of the street Wednesday night.
Those who violate the alternate side parking rules are subject to a $60 fine throughout the city. Violators may also be towed.
During a snow emergency, parking is free in the cashiered sections of city ramps downtown from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. However, parking fees will apply to those who enter before 9 p.m. or leave after 7 a.m.
Residents are asked to not park on the top level of ramps overnight so they can be plowed. Vehicles parked in ramps more than 48 hours may be ticketed and towed. Meters will be enforced at all times.
Parking is also available in the lots at Burr Jones Park, 1820 E. Washington Ave., the Tenney Park boat landing at 1615 Sherman Ave., and the Olbrich Park beach parking lot, 3527 Atwood Ave.
