Results of a recent poll reveal many Wisconsin residents disagree with the federal government's plan to use $700 billion of taxpayer money to bail out financial institutions during the current financial crisis.
The poll was conducted Sept. 22-23 on 600 likely Wisconsin voters, of which 37 percent identified themselves as Democrats, 32 percent as Republicans and 31 percent as Independents.
Of all respondents to the poll, conducted by the group Research 2000, 61 percent said they disapprove of the bailout plan.
In addition, 75 percent of Democrats and 79 percent of Republicans think taxpayer money should not be used to protect financial companies.
The Wisconsin Assembly Democrats announced in a statement Thursday fixing the economy will be their top priority in the next legislative session.
They outlined a plan to keep jobs in Wisconsin, ease the tax burden on middle class families and invest in renewable energy.
