UW Police ended the search for a suspended UW-Madison student in Cleveland Nov. 29, arresting him for bail-jumping, repeatedly contacting an English professor and stalking past classmates.
Brian Glueck, 25, has been under investigation by the UWPD since March, when he sent threatening e-mails to UW-Madison English department faculty.
He was issued a restraining order for harassment, prohibiting him from any contact with an English professor until March 2011. In August, the Dean of Students Office suspended Glueck from the UW-Madison campus until June 2009.
Glueck was also charged with misdemeanors for keeping University Health Services keys after his employment there was terminated, and for urinating on the floor of a UWPD interview room in protest of being held by police.
For these charges, Glueck was enrolled in a jail-alternative program, but he failed to check in with a supervisor in early November.
At this time, police learned of Glueck's new correspondences with faculty and students.
There was an ongoing investigation and there was probable cause developed to have him charged,"" UWPD Detective Peter Grimyser said.
According to the criminal complaint, he sent a series of e-mails dating from Nov. 3 to Nov. 23 that accused English Department faculty of anti-Semitism and governmental conspiracy. In the e-mails, Glueck referred to the recipients as ""worthless traitors"" and said he would ""spare nobody who wants to destroy America and Israel.""
Police also investigated Glueck's contact with two female UW-Madison students who alleged he was stalking them. According to the complaint, Glueck claimed to know the women from an English class and began sending messages via Facebook and e-mail.
One student said that in March, Glueck began following her around campus and showed up at a meeting with her adviser in Helen C. White Hall.
After she asked him to stop contacting her and blocked his e-mail account, Glueck attempted to reach the woman by e-mailing her adviser and asking her to pass along his messages.
In November, Glueck allegedly began pursuing the other student as a romantic interest through a string of e-mails.
In one, he sent the woman a link to a blog he created under the alias Robert Robus, specifically referencing her in an entry entitled ""Thoughts on My Future Bride.""
UW Police were able to trace the IP address of Glueck's most recent e-mail on Nov. 23 to an Ohio Public Library Information Network in Columbus. The address also matched the latest e-mail received by the English Department.
Grimyser said he traveled to Cleveland and arrested Glueck with the help of local authorities Nov. 29.
He said Glueck is currently in custody awaiting extradition to Wisconsin and his warrant will remain in effect.
Glueck now faces four counts of stalking, four counts of bail jumping, four counts of violating a harassment restraining order and one count of disorderly conduct.
Calls to Glueck's lawyer were not returned as of press time.
