Madison police reported another case of child enticement Wednesday, making the incident the fourth in roughly two weeks.
According to police, the latest case involved a Madison middle school student who had - on more than one occasion - noticed a suspicious vehicle on South Randall Avenue, which is on the outskirts of UW-Madison's campus. The young victim told police the men in the car - described as a white Monte Carlo with tinted windows and a loud muffler - stared at her as she walked past.
She also told police one night she walked with a parent in the area and spotted the vehicle. Police said the parent approached the car, but it sped off as the adult neared. Police assigned a detective to the case.
Other cases of enticement have developed, as well. Police said on Nov. 5, an 8-year-old girl reported that a man in a van with tinted windows tried to lure her inside. She told police the Hispanic man offered her a ride to school, after saying he knew the girl's mother.
The girl escaped unharmed.
More than a week ago, police reported two separate incidents of enticement in the city. A 13-year-old and 12-year-old were the victims in those cases.
