The UW Athletic Department and the Big Ten Network posted information on the Badgers athletic website Thursday in an effort to dispel the myths and state the facts"" regarding the dispute between BTN and larger cable companies, such as Madison-area cable provider Charter Communications.
Following the announcement of BTN broadcasting Saturday's Wisconsin football game at Ohio State University earlier this week, the network and Charter have been under increased scrutiny from fans that do not have BTN in their current cable listings.
Since BTN's launch in August, no deal has been negotiated between BTN and Charter, and according to the website, an agreement is not expected any time soon.
""The conference agreement with the Big Ten Network is for 20 years,"" the website said. ""The current impasse between the BTN and those not wishing to carry BTN is not going away after this football season.""
The website, however, listed ways to follow the game, which include listening to the Badger Sports Radio Network, viewing the live stats on UWbadgers.com and checking out the large screen televisions at the campus unions or local restaurants that will broadcast the game.
