Former Wisconsin Governor and previous Republican presidential candidate Tommy Thompson announced Friday he would endorse former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for president.
Rudy Giuliani has shown that he is a true leader. He is America's Mayor, and during a period of time of great stress for this country he showed tremendous leadership,"" Thompson said in a statement.
Thompson will now become the National Co-Chair of Giuliani's campaign, and Giuliani said in a statement that he was ""honored"" to have the endorsement.
""[Thompson] is a strong conservative with a record of achieving fiscal discipline, implementing tort reform, and bringing about innovation in government,"" Giuliani said, ""I look forward to learning from his experience and leadership.""
Thompson served as Governor of Wisconsin from 1986 to 2001, when he became Secretary of Health and Human Services for President Bush. Thompson dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination in August after receiving a low ranking in the Republican Iowa Straw Poll, according to CNN.
