The Friends of the UW-Madison Libraries is having its 24th semiannual used book sale starting Wednesday at Memorial Library.
The sale, which runs through Oct. 13, offers more than 15,000 donated books from UW-Madison faculty, staff, students and community members.
The sale starts with a special preview sale Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a $5 admission.
According to Don Johnson, senior editor of external relations for UW-Madison libraries, the cover fee gives participants access to all 15,000 books,"" before the public sale begins.
Wisconsin's largest used book sale continues Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Johnson said on these days, the books are $3 for hardcovers and $1 for paperbacks. For anyone wanting to pacify their inner child, there are kids books for $1.50 and $0.50 respectively. Magazines are also available for a quarter.
Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m is the last day to book-hunt.
On Saturday, shoppers can bring a bag and fill it with books for only $3 or purchase a bag for $1.
Johnson said everything left after 1:05 p.m. on Saturday would be free.
Community members can contribute to the next sale by dropping off their books in any of the ""Open Return"" book drops in the on-campus libraries.
According to Johnson, proceeds from the sale fund lecture series, campus library grants and visiting scholars.
The sale will be in room 116 at Memorial Library this weekend.
