A federal grand jury handed down a 39-count indictment alleging counts of mail fraud, wire fraud and filing false tax returns against Robert D'Angelo, the former director of the Overture Center, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
D'Angelo faces a maximum sentence of life in prison for the indictment that alleges 15 counts of mail fraud, 15 counts of wire fraud and four counts of filing false tax returns. He reportedly earned more than $200,000 from private business ventures during his tenure as director.
The 63-year-old D'Angelo resigned as director of the Overture Center in 2005 after several cases of alleged sexual harassment, the newspaper said.
He was also director of the Madison Civic Center for more than 10 years before taking the Overture Center job.
