Crandon shooter Peterson said to have taken his own life

The man who killed six people at a pizza party in Crandon, Wis., Sunday morning likely killed himself after a run-in with police, according to the Wisconsin attorney general.

J.B. Van Hollen, attorney general for the state of Wisconsin, said Tuesday 20-year-old Tyler Peterson, a former member of the Forest County Sheriff's office, went to his ex-girlfriend's house to argue with her about a relationship she may or may not have been in. His ex-girlfriend, Jordanne Murray, 18, told him to leave.

Peterson did, but came back with a rifle issued to him as a part of being an officer, according to Van Hollen.

Van Hollen then said Peterson killed Murray in the kitchen and five others in the house. Only one survived, and he is currently recovering in an area hospital. Van Hollen said it is still unclear as to what exactly happened after Peterson left the scene around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

However, Van Hollen said Peterson likely took his life after police confronted him near the Town of Argonne. Van Hollen said Peterson had three bullet holes in his head that could have only been fired from close range. Peterson was also wounded in the arm, which Van Hollen said was from a police officer.
