Gameday's Hot/Cold

HOT:

Tyler Donovan

Wisconsin's first year starting quarterback, senior Tyler Donovan, shattered UNLV's hopes of an upset Saturday when he scored on a 29-yard bootleg with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Donovan has thrown four touchdowns so far this season and has also rushed for two of his own for the No. 7 Badgers.

LSU

No. 2 LSU proved to be a very powerful team last week when they crushed then Associated Press ranked No. 9 Virginia Tech 48-7. Offensively, the Tigers produced 598 total yards against the Hokies while the defense held them to only 149 total yards.

Ray Rice

Rutgers' junior running back Ray Rice has already racked up 420 total yards, and leads the NCAA Division 1-A in rushing yards with 359. In addition, he has scored five rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown for a total of 36 points, another NCAA best.

Chad Henne

This quarterback was a preseason projection by many football fans to be a candidate for the Heisman Trophy. Henne has yet to prove himself, throwing for only 405 yards and two touchdowns on the season. If Henne wants a legitimate shot at the Heisman, he needs to perform exponentially better than he has thus far. To make matters worse, Michigan coach Lloyd Carr has already announced that Henne will not play Saturday against Notre Dame because of a shoulder injury.

Michigan

Perhaps the biggest disappointment in college football this season is Michigan (0-2). After two weeks of play, Appalachian State and Oregon pulled off huge upsets over the Wolverines, a team that was ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press preseason poll and is now unranked. Both of these games were played in Ann Arbor's Big House.

Notre Dame Offense

The Fighting Irish (0-2), under the command of head coach Charlie Weis, have not been able to produce an offensive touchdown this season. The Notre Dame offense did not produce any rushing yards against No. 12 Penn State last Saturday and had negative rushing yards in week one's contest against Georgia Tech. In addition, freshman quarterback Jimmy Clausen has struggled to find comfort in the pocket. Notre Dame's defense scored the team's only touchdown when Darrin Walls had a 73-yard interception return early against the Nittany Lions.
