Frost expected to replace 70-degree heat

Mother Nature has thrown yet another curve into the wild string of weather in Wisconsin this year.

The high temperature in Madison on Thursday was 77 degrees. For Friday, the forecasted high is 58 degrees with possible periods of rain, according to channel3000.com.

In September, it's not that uncommon to see temperature drops of that magnitude,"" said Gary Cannalte, WISC-TV 3 chief meteorologist.

Cannalte said the weather forecast will shape up next week, with temperatures rebounding into the high 70s, but not before near record low temperatures sweep through the state on Friday night. He said areas of patchy frost are possible, as lows will dip into the low 30s.

And as for the Badger football game forecast, channel3000.com shows temperatures in the early morning will be very chilly. Cannalte said this because the temperatures are trying to rebound from the night before.

Still, he said the weather in Wisconsin this year has been unusual, but not to the extent that residents should be alarmed.

""It was a little unusual to have the floods in August after such a dry July,"" Cannalte said. ""The weather pattern shaped-up such that the central part of the Midwest got a lot of rain, but there's nothing behind it, like global warming.""

He said individual weather phenomena like flooding and sudden drops in temperature do not translate into signs of global warming. He said they are just a mere happening.
