The nearly 40-year-old tuition reciprocity agreement between Wisconsin and Minnesota will continue, as announced in a June 22 release from the Offices of Gov. Jim Doyle and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
The renegotiated agreement will not impact current students or students admitted for fall 2007.
Beginning with the fall 2008 semester, the new agreement will charge all students the higher of the two resident tuition rates, with the state of Wisconsin providing a tuition reciprocity supplement"" to cover the increase in tuition charges for Wisconsin residents.
The state of Minnesota nearly ended the agreement in early June because Wisconsin residents currently pay $1,500 to $2,200 less to attend the University of Minnesota campuses than Minnesota residents.
