The Mifflin Street Block Party is scheduled for Saturday, but before the party starts, police and residents will meet Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Madison Senior Center, 330 W. Mifflin St., to express concerns about one another's expected actions.
Ald. Mike Verveer, District 4, will host the meeting, which he has held for 10 years running.
He said the meeting is beneficial to students because they get a feel for what the Madison Police Department intends on doing, as far as enforcement guidelines.
Police are then given a chance to respond to questions and concerns, and in turn, relay their expectations of students.
""Representatives from the MPD and the MFD will be there to go over their game plan for the party,"" Verveer said. ""Still, I don't want this [to be] a one-way discussion.""
The forecast for Saturday's 38th Annual Block party calls for clear skies and temperatures hovering near the 70-degree mark.
