An accident on the Beltline Wednesday killed one, injured two and shut down the highway for more than two hours, police said.
According to a report by the Madison Police Department, a 23-year-old man was fatally wounded after a vehicle crossed the grass median into westbound traffic near the Whitney Way exit. Police said, in all, three vehicles crashed, resulting in a death and two injuries.
The report said the two people—one male and one female—injured in the crash were immediately taken to UW Hospital. As of press time, the female suffered non-life threatening injuries and the male had unknown injuries.
Police said the accident happened at 6:42 a.m. and the westbound Beltline lanes were completely closed off for more than two hours.
