The lure of a trip to New York is apparently not as important to UW offensive lineman Joe Thomas as using lures with his father, as Thomas will be skipping NFL draft day to go fishing with his dad. NFL.com reported Tuesday that the league has sent multiple written and verbal invitations to Thomas in an attempt to get him to attend the draft-week festivities to no avail. The No. 1 lineman in the nation has a yearly tradition of fishing on Lake Michigan on draft day.
Thomas has stated that he believes attending the draft will do nothing to affect his status and he'd rather continue a family tradition. The All-American tackle is expected to be drafted in the top five and has already signed an endorsement deal with Under Armour.
