An apartment fire Saturday on the 1100 block of East Gorham Street left four people homeless and caused more than $150,000 in damages, according to the Madison Fire Department.
The MFD said firefighters battled the blaze for nearly 20 minutes. A report released by the MFD said the two-story apartment complex suffered extensive damages that may not be repairable.
The fire started at about noon and flames were seen shooting out of the windows on both floors, as well as the roof. The MFD said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but noted no other buildings were affected.
The American Red Cross has provided help to the four people that lived in the apartment. The residents were reportedly unharmed, but the MFD said two cats remain missing.
