Voting for the Associated Students of Madison spring elections opens online at 8 a.m. Tuesday and continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.
After ASM's online voting system malfunctioned last spring and made students revote by paper ballot, the Student Elections Committee ""worked very closely with the UW survey lab in developing this new system,"" according to SEC Commissioner Polly Pfeiffer.
""Just as a precautionary measure, SEC has put the election earlier this year so in case anything goes wrong ...we'll have enough time to run another election,"" Pfeiffer said.
Candidates are running to fill seats in the College of Letters and Science, Law School, Agriculture and Life Sciences/Vet Medicine, College of Engineering, and in the Schools of Business, Education, Human Ecology and Pharmacy, and Medicine and Public Health. Additionally, students will vote for five graduate-student seats, one special-student seat, seats on the Student Services Finance Committee and senior class officers.
There is also a referendum on the ballot asking whether students want to appropriate $2 of each student's segregated fees to support the United Council of UW Students.
Students can log onto https://asm.uwsc.wisc.edu/spring2007.php and use a MyUW login to gain voting access. Results will be announced as quickly as possible after polls close.
