The Wisconsin football team had to say goodbye to an athlete Monday, as junior defensive tackle Justin Ostrowski has decided to leave the team and end his Badger career.
Ostrowski has had an injury-plagued career to say the least, as constant right knee problems have only allowed him to play in 18 games.
""An unfortunate side to the game of football is the chance of injury,"" head coach Bret Bielema said in a statement. ""Based on the advice Justin got from his doctors. He decided it would be best if he stopped playing.""
The Portage, Wis., native saw his most prolific playing time as a freshman, recording five tackles and one sack in 11 games.
Ostrowski will stay on scholarship and has been invited to remain as much a part of the team as he wants.
""I want to thank everyone at he University of Wisconsin for the support and guidance I've received,"" Ostrowski said in his statement. ""I especially thank coach Alvarez for giving me the opportunity to play football and receive my degree from one of the best schools in the country.""
