As a Wisconsin native since transplanted to California and a long-time Badger fan who attended UW-Madison way back in 1975, I was pleased to open up the March 9 digital version of The Daily Cardinal and see positive mention of the company I now work for, both from a legislator and a student.
BP does indeed ""get it"" and has taken the lead in a global issue, being the first major energy company to take a stand on carbon emissions in 1997.
BP is committed to finding clean and sustainable solutions to the world's growing and changing energy needs. Our commitment to alternative energy has been ahead of its time since we took solar technology out of space and into homes over 30 years ago.
Since then it has helped to take solar and wind power forward, invested in the most efficient natural gas power stations and developed the thinking behind large-scale hydrogen power.
BP is investing billions in these low-carbon businesses with an aggressive investment program and some ambitious environmental and business goals.
Congratulations to the Lone Ranger, Wisconsin state Rep. Bill Kramer, and UW-Madison's Tonto, Amanda Infield, on championing basic principles of economics. They get it, and let's hope the Wisconsin Legislature hears as well.
