After scoring 24 points against Penn State last Wednesday, senior forward Alando Tucker needed only one point at home in the Kohl Center to join Michael Finley as the only 2,000 point scorers in Badger history.
He got it out of the way quickly with a jumper in the first two minutes. While Tucker could then stack that accomplishment away, four screaming fans commemorated the moment for the remainder of the afternoon.
Knowing that he only needed one point, four UW-Madison students painted their chests with the number ""2,000"" and stuck with the bare look for the remainder of the game.
The Daily Cardinal Fan Hunter tracked down the quartet, and spoke with sophomore Bryan Tublin, the second ""0,"" who remarked he persevered through the adequately air-conditioned atmosphere for the fans.
""It's for the spirit of it to get the crowd into it in the beginning of the game,"" Tublin said. ""It's worth it if it gets the crowd pumped up.""
While players like Texas' Kevin Durant and Ohio States' Greg Oden are making headlines because of where they'll end up in the 2007 NBA Draft, Tucker keeps showing why he's a great leader, saving his best for the big games. It's that reason that Tublin thinks no. 42 should be the National Player of the Year.
""He should,"" Tublin remarked. ""I don't know if he will, but he's definitely getting more attention now.""
The easiest question of the night for Tublin was the last one though. Where does he, the shirtless ""0,"" think the Badgers will end up the season?
""We're going all the way baby! What can I say?""
