At first taste, Iron Range Amber Lager is completely undistinguished. Its touted ""Munich malts and Spalter hops"" are nowhere in evidence, and nothing outside of a mildly bitter finish places this beer in the company of any but the most ordinary beers.
But that's its charm. The beer is only $6.99 for a six-pack, and while it may not break any ground as a micro, it is a great keg beer.
While the taste is nothing to write home about, it is remarkably smooth, and it reveals a perfect, if timid balance during later rounds.
If you are looking for a deep and complex taste, best leave this beer on the shelf, but if you seek an affordable brew flavorful enough to class out of the Milwaukee's Best category, you might want to consider this one. Your friends buying funnel and plastic tubing will thank you.
