Man impersonating cop arrested after pulling over off-duty officer

Madison police arrested a man who attempted to pull over an off-duty police officer on the Beltline early Friday morning.

According to police, Joshua Kay, 28, has been charged with impersonating an officer. Kay was reportedly driving an old Honda Civic when he used red lights and a siren on an unsuspecting driver. However, Kay did not know the car he attempted to pull over was manned by an off-duty police officer from a jurisdiction outside Madison.

The victim of the pullover hoax remained nameless, but the report said the officer called 911 because he felt Kay's car was not an ""official police car."" The officer then gave Kay's license plate number to police. Soon afterwards, Kay was caught by Madison police and taken to Dane County Jail.
