UW-Madison's on-campus gallery, The Chazen Museum of Art, announced Monday the team of architects chosen by the state who will design a 62,000 square foot expansion plan, funded by a $20 million gift from the Chazen family in May 2005.
Machado and Silvetti Associates of Boston, internationally known for urban and museum design, will control building design. Continuum Architects + Planners of Milwaukee, known for many state projects, such as UW-Madison's University Housing master plan, will manage the project on-site.
The architect team will ""create a world-class museum that fully integrates the existing museum, the addition and new outdoor spaces at the gateway to the East Campus Arts District,"" said a statement from the Chazen.
In addition to more gallery space, the expansion promises study rooms, artwork storage and a 160-seat auditorium for lectures and films. Project designer,Rodolfo Machado will introduce the preliminary plans Feb. 1 at the Chazen.
