The recent crime wave in Madison continued late Monday night, when Miller's Liquor was robbed at gunpoint.
According to Madison police, a white male of average build in his early-to-mid 20s entered Miller's Liquor, 2401 University Ave., with a handgun at approximately 8:30 p.m. and proceeded to hold up a female cashier.
The cashier handed over an undisclosed amount to the thief, who then fled on foot. A few moments later, police arrived on the scene and a K-9 unit was summoned to track the suspect. However, the attempts to find him were unsuccessful, and the suspect remains at large.
Dave Miller, owner of the store, said while his worker was not physically harmed, she did ""suffer mental trauma"" from the robbery and that no one else was present in the store at the time of the robbery. Miller noted he was held at gunpoint many years ago and said it was an experience he will never be able to forget.
Madison has become notorious for theft in the past few months due to a string of armed bank robberies and convenience store stick-ups.
The suspect was wearing a gray fleece jacket, a baseball cap and a gray bandana to cover his face at the time of the robbery.
