The Associated Students of Madison Fall 2006 election polls closed Thursday night without any major problems, according to ASM Student Elections Chair and UW-Madison junior Leah Moe.
""It went very smoothly,"" Moe said. ""All the hard work and planning that we did really paid off—we anticipated everything.""
After last year's botched electronic elections, ASM turned to paper ballots this year to vote on representatives and two major, potentially campus-altering referenda: the Student Union Initiative to renovate Memorial Union and construct a new Union South and the living wage referendum to give all student employees a wage of at least $10.23 an hour.
The ASM Student Judiciary now has until Tuesday Oct. 24 to hear any complaints about issues like unlawful campaigning and subsequently certify the votes. Student voter turnout was not known as of press time but may be announced today.
