Art museum: The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art opened at the Overture Center just last April. If you haven't yet visited the museum, remember admission is free!
The museum has both permanent and traveling exhibits. Hours are: Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
An exhibit called Chuck Close Prints: Process and Collaboration ends Oct. 8, with a discussion Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. led by artist and master printer Bill Weege, professor emeritus of the art department at UW.
Also on Oct. 6. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Wisconsin Center for Book and Paper Arts will help visitors make a group print using paper pulp, similar to the technique used by Chuck Close. The workshop is free to MMoCA members or $5 to the public.
