Republicans up for mid-term elections are pulling money from their campaigns given by former congressman, Mark Foley of Florida, in an act to disassociate themselves from his developing e-mail scandal with teenage congressional pages.
Wisconsin's gubernatorial candidate U.S. Rep. Mark Green, R-Green Bay is one of the Congressmen ridding his campaign of all Foley contributions, confirmed Luke Punzenberger, campaign spokesperson for Green.
Green hopes to redirect the money he received in 1998 from the Foley Political Action Committee to a charity that helps abused children after the state Democratic Party called on him to return the money.
Despite the efforts of Green and other republicans, the National Republican Congressional Committee, which has received $550,000 from Foley since 1996, has decided to keep the money, committee spokesman Carl Forti said in an Associated Press story.
