Two new arrests in sexual assault

Madison Police announced Friday the arrest of two more suspects in the sexual assault on the 500 block of University Avenue Labor Day Weekend.

Marcus Bonner, 21, and Anthony Feda, 20, are in jail and expected to make their first court appearances this week. According to Central District Police Commander Mary Schauf, Bonner and Feda were the two main perpetrators of the sexual assault.

""Right now, we think we have the primary players,"" Schauf said.

Schauf said a citizen tip led to the arrests of Bonner and Feda, but also credited ""a nice piece of detective work"" in the investigation.

The Sept. 4 sexual assault allegedly involved Bonner, Feda and a third man—Mario Amaya. Amaya, an Ian's Pizza employee, was arrested almost two weeks ago and is currently suspended from his job.

Ald. Mike Verveer, District 4, has been in contact with police throughout the investigation. He said the arrests of Bonner and Feda marked a victory for Madison detectives.

""It's a tremendous relief to know that these thugs are off the street and in custody,"" Verveer said.

Madison Police arrested both Bonner and Feda late last week. Bonner, who is from Madison, also had a warrant out for his arrest in Florida, where he is accused of robbery. Feda, who is from Waukesha, has no criminal history in Wisconsin. However, according to Verveer, he was arrested in Brookfield following a chase that involved police dogs.

According to a police statement, the sexual assault case ""remains active,"" and Schauf did not rule out the possibility of a fourth arrest.

""Whether or not someone else might be charged with a lesser offense will come out in the future as the case unwinds,"" she said. ""But right now we are confident that we have the two primary individuals.""
