A day after raising tuition 6.8 percent for resident undergrads, the UW System Board of Regents approved raises for the UW System president, as well as chancellors and provosts across the state.
UW System President Kevin Reilly will see his yearly salary rise from $326,400 to $340,435. UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley will receive approximately $11,000 more per year.
Wiley has said he will return the money from this raise and any future raises he receives to the UW System. He said he is returning the money in part because of criticisms leveled at the University. State legislators have reacted with outrage to several cases involving UW professors or administrators accused of misconduct.
