The ongoing saga involving embattled UW-Madison administrator Paul Barrows continued this summer when a letter of reprimand in Barrows' file was removed and replaced with a 'letter of counsel.'
In the new letter, UW-Madison Provost Patrick Ferrell said that while Barrows did engage in inappropriate behavior, it did not constitute sexual harassment.
Barrows maintains he has done nothing wrong and is seeking to appeal the removal from his position as a vice chancellor to the UW System Board of Regents.
UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley encouraged Barrows to resign as vice chancellor in November 2004 after Wiley found out about a relationship Barrows had with a UW-Madison graduate student. Wiley came under fire for authorizing Barrows to take an extended paid leave.
