The Wisconsin men's hockey team continues to ride the success of its first national title since 1994.
Head coach Mike Eaves announced Wednesday the signing of three elite prep players to national letters of intent. Forwards Aaron Bendickson, Thief River Falls, Minn., Mike Davies, Chesterfield, Mo., and Ben Grotting, Birmingham, Ala., will join UW for the 2006-'07 school year.
Bendickson, at 5'11' and 170 lbs, tallied 16 goals and 30 points during the a stint with three different United States Hockey League teams. He finished the season with the Des Moines Buccaneers after skating for Indiana and Cedar Rapids earlier in the season.
Bendickson will join former Buccaneers Davis Drewiske and Joe Piskula at Wisconsin next season.
Davies, who stands 5'8' and 165 lbs., skated this past season for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. Playing in 51 games during the regular season, Davies tied for third in the league in points with 71 on 28 goals and 43 assists.
Grotting, a 6'1' and 190 lbs. forward, is a teammate of Davies with the Lincoln Stars. In 52 games with the Stars, Grotting posted nine goals and 21 points during the regular season. Through nine postseason contests, Grotting added two goals to his season total.
The group joins six other Badgers already signed for next season.
