Nearly four months after several pipe bomb scares and one explosion in downtown Madison, the Madison Police Department has released a picture of its prime suspect in the case.
The alleged pipe bomber, whose image was captured on a store surveillance camera, is a white man with short dark hair. According to police, the man is approximately 30 years old and stands approximately 5'9"" tall.
Police found two unexploded pipe bombs on Nov. 22 and 23 in the city's Capitol Square south parking ramp and returned to the ramp Dec. 24 after an explosion seriously damaged one car.
Two other bomb scares also occurred in the downtown area on the same day in early January.
However, police ruled that the ‘suspicious packages' — one found in a manhole near the Captiol square and another found in a mailbox on West Doty Street — were not the work of the pipe-bombing suspect.
On Monday, Jan. 11, Madison officials held a news conference asking people to call police if they saw any person who fit the person's description.
Police have encouraged anyone with information to call them, but so far have had few leads in the case.
