The Intrafraternity Council tabled discussion on a proposal to ban kegs from all fraternity house parties for the second week in a row Monday. Instead, the IFC formed a seven-member committee aimed at creating specific proposals to be brought up at its April 24 meeting.
An IFC statement cited the creation of the committee as an effort to respond more diligently and cooperatively with concerns the Dean's Office has regarding the risk management of social events and alcohol.\
The committee will work with the Dean's Office and IFC Risk Management to minimize risk at all fraternity parties. According to IFC Public Relations Chair and UW-Madison senior Joshua Kurzbuch, resolutions such as the one to ban kegs have not completely materialized yet.
""Nothing has fully matured, and that's the purpose of this committee —to work more specifically,"" Kurzbuch said.
The executive board of the IFC also discussed a photo that ran in the May issue of Playboy of 23 UW-Madison Delta Upsilon fraternity members with 19 naked female students. IFC President and UW-Madison junior Brian Burke said that people have filed complaints with the Greek Judicial Board, and that if punishments are handed out, it will be done by the judicial board, not IFC.
""It sure is not IFC's place to do that, but as an executive counsel, we felt it extremely necessary to take a stance that this doesn't reflect the values of the Greek system,"" Burke said.
